Our Club
Rostrata Sporting Club prides itself on emphasising a fair go for all players, regardless of ability.
We have a family-friendly atmosphere that encourages participation.
The success of the club is built on the tireless dedication of the many parents and others who have volunteered their time and effort, and we are very grateful for all of their efforts over the years.
The Rhinos have grown to include teams ranging from Auskick through to Adults. Many of our past members have gone on to succeed in the AFL and WAFL leagues, such as Roger Hayden, Graham Polak, Rhys Palmer, and Andrew Foster.
Our History
In March 1988, two local parents set up a desk on the front lawn of Rostrata Primary School to assess interest in joining a local football club. As a result, the first official committee meeting was held in the staff room of the school, where a committee and coach were selected from interested players.
The Rostrata Junior Football Club (RJFC) quickly registered with the East Fremantle Junior Council and played its first game of 9’s on the old school oval. The club was up and running within 6 weeks from the initial meeting, with a small pool of very keen young players!
By the end of the year, RJFC comprised of 9’s and “Freeballers” (Auskick) and moved from playing games on the school oval to organised rounds at Burrendah Reserve.
Celebrating the one-year anniversary of the club, the “Rhinos” set up home at Centenary Park, and had grown to include Freeballers and 9’s through 12’s.
In 1992 Prendwick Reserve pavilion was built and the club moved to the new oval facility, where it remains home to the Rhinos today. 2006 saw the completion of the training light towers on Prendwick Reserve.
In 2019 the members of the club voted to transform the club into a sports club thus allowing the expansion of the club into adult AFL compititons and the further expansion into other sports.
